EXPOSURE The main exposure is the most critical phase of processing. Place the film negative, emulsion down, onto the face of the unexposed photopolymer sheet. Roll the cover film of the exposure frame over the sheet and establish really good vacuum pressure - ensuring all air is removed. Set exposure time as specified (varies according to material between 2.00 and 6.00 minutes) |

WASHOUT The washout or etch should take about 5 minutes to complete using basic tap water at room temperature. Photo 1 shows the unetched sheet mounted onto the sticky mat before closing the lid of the unit. Photo 2 shows a fully etched job after 5 minutes in the washout tank. |

RINSING / DRYING / POST EXPOSURE It is important to rinse the processed sheet with fresh water immediately after the washout to remove any unwanted residue. Ensure the polymer has been thoroughly dried (for example with compressed air) prior to placing the photopolymer in the dryer.
After drying the photopolymer sheet has to be post exposed to ensure the newly crosslinked polymers are adequately cured. |

FINISHING The use of NovAcryl can reduce your fabrication time by as much as 60% over conventional photopolymer materials such as aluminium, steel and phenolic. The use of Nova Shears and the CornerMate ensure you can go straight to paint after cutting - with no additional finishing required. For custom shapes, ensure you use router bits that are rated for plastics and laminates. This will help alleviate chattering and breakage. |
